ABOUT ME

Hello!
My name is Sofia.
I am from Italy and I moved permanently to the UK in 2016.
I graduated in Film Studies and completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Filmmaking, both with the highest grades at Roma Tre University, in Rome.
I started working straight after graduation in 2014 as a camera trainee in Malta, thanks to my passion for photography, and continued for two years both in Malta and in Italy, working on Feature Films, TV Series, Documentaries and Short Films.

I moved to the Art Department and Set Decorating in 2019, deciding to pursue what I’ve always wanted to do.

I grew up with two Architects (my parents) absorbing everything I could and visiting building sites since I was a kid: from them I inherited a very good eye for space, balance, colours, shapes and textures.
I’ve always redecorated my room on my own, initially moving things around and then painting walls and ceiling and choosing furniture and accessories.

Even in rental properties, during university and after, I have always tried my best to make the space my own and every time, the owners liked my versions a lot more and kept things that way when I moved out.

I’ve always been passionate about Production Design and Set Decorating and I’ve always researched the making of my favourite films.
I love creating spaces that can tell a story without the need of lines from the actors and I particularly enjoy getting in the character’s shoes and creating the perfect space for him/her and for the story.
I am very good at finding the most effective, functional and suitable way to use the space according to the needs of the scene and I have great sense of practicality.

I also have experience in Interior Design, Prop Making, Model Making, Retail Display Design, Graphics and Photography and I enjoy drawing and painting during my free time.

I am currently completing an Online Certificate in Residential Interior Design at KLC – School of Design, in London.
